Ayatollah Raisi in a meeting with the Chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council:

There are no obstacles or restrictions for the development of Tehran-Baghdad ties

Speaking in a meeting with the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq Faiq Zaidan on Thursday, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers no obstacles or restrictions for the development of relations with Iraq in various fields."

The President stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq have wide religious, historical and cultural common grounds, adding, "We place great emphasis on the relations and cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad, and the development of relations with the country is a high foreign policy priority for Iran”.

Ayatollah Raisi also commemorated martyrs Haj Qasem Soleimani and Haj Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis in the fight against terrorism and the efforts to establish peace and stability in the region, saying, "The US Administration has explicitly taken responsibility for this great crime and it was a state terrorist act and they must be held accountable to the world public opinion and history”.

Congratulating the election of Ayatollah Raisi, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq Faiq Zaidan said, "We are confident that during your term as the President, the relations between Tehran and Baghdad will be further developed in various political, economic and legal sectors”.
