Dr Rouhani in a phone call with Qatari Emir:

Moderation, wisdom, constructive interaction, conflict resolution through dialogue the main axes of Iran's approach/ Importance of increasing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries

The President described relations between Iran and Qatar, as two Muslim countries, very good and developing, and referred to the ample opportunities for cooperation in all fields between the two countries, saying, "There are no obstacles to the development of relations between the two countries and efforts should be made to strengthen cooperation as much as possible".

Speaking on Monday afternoon with the Emir of Qatar by telephone, Dr Hassan Rouhani congratulated the government and people of Qatar on Eid al-Adha, adding, "Regional and international conditions require continuous cooperation, contacts and communication between the two countries".

Dr Rouhani stated that the fixed approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on the three axes of moderation and wisdom, constructive interaction and conflict resolution through dialogue, adding that the positions and policies of Iran and Qatar regarding stability and balance in the region are very close, and it is necessary that the executive steps of the two countries are strengthened with the help of other friends".

The President described the effort to establish peace and stability in the region one of the main policies of the Islamic Republic pursued by all governments, and said, "The main challenge in the region is militarism of some countries and the Zionist Regime and we must try to get the region out of the militaristic situation".

Dr Rouhani continued by appreciating the positions of the Qatari government on regional issues and emphasising the need for dialogue and crisis resolution through peaceful means, saying, "Today, the atmosphere of moderation and rationality prevails in regional developments and pursuing a political solution to resolve crises is felt more than before".

The Islamic Republic of Iran has used all its capacity to advance the UN efforts to establish peace in Yemen, he said, adding, "Synergy between Muslim countries in resolving regional problems is a key goal for the Islamic Republic of Iran".

In this telephone call, the Emir of Qatar congratulated the government and people of Iran on Eid al-Adha, and described the relations between the two countries as very friendly and good.

He went on to praise Dr Rouhani's efforts in establishing warm and cordial relations between Tehran and Doha, saying, "The past eight years have seen a turning point in relations between the two countries, and we hope that these friendly, developing relations will continue".

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani referred to the sensitive situation in the region, adding, "We believe that solving regional problems and conflicts does not have a military solution, and the best way to solve problems is dialogue and political path, and we hope all countries in the region work to achieve peace by developing cooperation".
