Despite all efforts, unfortunately, the Indian virus has entered deep in the country, situation is more unfavourable than previous weeks/ With all the planned measures, we have entered the fifth peak of the disease, although this peak is not yet nationwide

Referring to the arrival of mutant British and Indian viruses in the country through neighbouring countries since the beginning of this year, the President said, "Every effort was made to keep the mutated virus trapped in the southern and eastern provinces, but despite all efforts, the Indian virus has penetrated deep into the country and the situation is more unfavourable than in previous weeks".

Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Dr Hassan Rouhani stated that with all the preparations and measures taken, today we have entered the fifth peak of the disease, of course this peak is not yet nationwide.

He said, "The positive point in the reports in the case of the Indian mutant virus is the deep gap between infection and hospitalisation, as well as hospitalisation and death rate, and the death rate is better than in the past".

Emphasising that all control measures have been taken at the country's borders to prevent the Indian virus from entering the country, Dr Rouhani said, "Unfortunately, unconventional routes have helped the virus to enter the country".

The President said that health protocols and instructions should be fully implemented in the red and orange cities, and that monitoring in these areas should be carefully on the agenda, adding, "Ignoring the observance of guidelines, unauthorised gatherings and unnecessary travel make the situation worse for this disease and it must be dealt with seriously".

Dr Rouhani stated that the process of vaccination has accelerated more than in previous weeks, adding, "There is a readiness to vaccinate up to 500,000 people daily, and this can create more immunity against the disease, as well as high hopes for people and reduced risk of death".

Referring to the resolution of the existing problems in the process of domestic vaccine production and foreign vaccine preparation, the President said, "Today, with the measures taken, relatively good conditions have been created in this field, and in the coming weeks, things will move forward with better conditions".

The president said that the report on the observance of health protocols in the country is not promising, adding, "It is necessary for almost 85% of the people to comply with the protocols, but according to statistics, this figure is about 66%. Therefore, we ask people to follow the protocols so that we can get through these difficult conditions".

Dr Rouhani further mentioned the situation of schools and the process of education in the country and said, "It is natural that the Internet cannot replace the teacher, so we must prepare ourselves for the reopening of schools".

The president added, "School closures affect students psychologically, so we should try to give preschool, primary school and high school students a priority".

In another part of his speech, the President complained about some false statements in cyberspace and real life and from some tribunes and interviews, saying, "Usually, foreign and anti-Iranian media highlight such words and use them against us".

Dr Rouhani added, "In this regard, cases were raised that after investigations were found to be completely false, for example, they rumoured that there is no hospital bed in a province and patients were left in the desert while the Minister of Health announced that there are empty beds in the same province. Therefore, such false words should not cause double concern among the people".
