Speaking on Wednesday at the cabinet meeting, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to the problems created in recent days in the field of electricity supply and distribution, and added, "It is important to examine the main causes of the gap between reality and the desired situation and try to solve that problem".

Dr Rouhani stated, "Regarding the shortage of electricity in the country, the root cause of the problems should be found".

Emphasising that the necessary investment must be made to achieve the desired result and success in various fields, the President said, "Nothing can be done without capital and empty-handed, and today it must be explained to the people about what the problem is".

Referring to the FATF bills that are left undecided upon in the Expediency Council, Dr Rouhani said, "If this issue is not resolved, our banking relations with the world will not be resolved and no investor, both domestic and foreign, will be willing to invest in plans and projects".

The president added, "If we do not have the money and cannot communicate with the world's banks because of the FATF, then we will not have enough capital and we will not be able to finalise the big projects".

Dr Rouhani noted, "I believe that the FATF is a domestic issue and we can resolve it and change relations with banks. We have won the economic war and the issue of sanctions remains, which is up to us. Of course, part of it is in the hands of others, but everything is up to us. This week we can decide and finish it or it can last for months".

Dr Rouhani said, "Due to the great measures taken in the field of industry, energy, gas and electricity exports and oil and petrochemical products, we were able to resist the economic war. Therefore, if a problem arises, we must speak in a way that leads to solving the problems and does not make it appear that the country has reached an unresolvable point".

Dr Rouhani further advised the people to reduce electricity consumption and said, "Such problems are painful for the people, but know that in such cases, the government suffers more than the people".
