Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Dr Hassan Rouhani said that all efforts in the past 16 months have been to ensure that people have sufficient equipment to combat the disease and follow the health instructions.

Dr Rouhani stated that according to reports, the general observance of health instructions is about 67%, which is not an acceptable figure, adding, "If the observance of protocols in the community does not reach 90%, the risk of facing a new wave of disease and its problems will be higher". .

Referring to the process of vaccination against coronavirus in the country, the President said that 5 million doses of vaccine have been provided to medical universities and about 3 million doses of vaccine have been injected, adding, "One of the honours of this government is that vaccination has been done according to the programme developed in the national vaccination document and based on the priorities, and it is done free of charge".

Emphasising that we are doing our best to import reliable vaccines and produce vaccines domestically, Dr Rouhani said, "The private sector, despite obtaining the necessary licenses to import vaccines, has not been successful so far, and this shows that contrary to expectations, vaccines are not abundant in the world and its preparation faces problems and obstacles".

Referring to the need to prevent the spread of the Indian coronavirus in the country, the president said, "Today we are facing a new mutation of the coronavirus and its Indian type, which has caused problems in some southern regions of the country and it is necessary to try to make sure that the virus does not spread to the central and northern regions of the country".

Referring to the resolution of the meeting regarding the June holidays, Dr Rouhani said, "We ask the people to refrain from traveling between the provinces and to endure these conditions well so that we can reach the end of the month and the days of the elections without any problem".

Dr Rouhani said, "We hope that the domestic vaccine will enter the market soon, and in this case we will see better conditions in July".

Referring to the possibility of vaccinating more than 500,000 people a day, Dr Rouhani said, "If enough vaccines are produced domestically and we buy the required vaccine at the same time, we can start the public vaccination in August and end it until December".

The president added, "About 878 bases have been allocated for public vaccination, and in 24 hours, more than 200,000 people will receive the vaccine, and it is possible to increase it to 500,000 people".

Dr Rouhani noted, "I promise to provide the vaccine wherever possible, despite all the financial problems we have, and we are proud to be one of the countries that produce the vaccine".

Referring to the problems caused by the outbreak of coronavirus, the President said, "In the last 16 months, the outbreak of coronavirus has caused great damage to businesses and many people have lost their jobs and people's incomes have decreased".

"Our children have problems in education and face-to-face education has been closed for almost 2 years and we must do our best to make sure that the schools, especially the first, second and third grades of elementary school, are face-to-face in October," he said.

Dr Rouhani stated, "In the last weeks of its efforts and term of service, the government wants to restrain coronavirus and hold good and healthy elections, and to help the people's livelihood as much as possible, and to complete the semi-finished projects".

The President noted that the government has taken major steps in the field of sanctions and final steps are available as well.
