Speaking on Wednesday in the meeting of specialised committees of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Dr Hassan Rouhani expressed concern about the changing situation in some provinces and the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, and stressed strict monitoring of the implementation of health protocols and the use of successful experiences in previous peaks of the virus outbreak.

The President stressed, "We must do our best and, using accurate and effective control methods, do not allow the new wave of the disease in terms of extent and the rate of infection, hospitalisation and possible deaths."

Dr Rouhani described the speed in diagnosing the disease, increasing the number of tests and taking tests from all the relatives of the infected person, as well as the complete observance of quarantine by the patients as very important issues that should be carefully considered using the experiences of previous waves of this disease.

Dr Rouhani referred to the reports received from quarantine violations by patients in some provinces, and stressed, "Serious and legal action against those who violate quarantine is necessary".

The President also referred to the vaccination process in the country based on the priorities set out in the National Vaccination Document, and stressed the need to closely monitor the implementation of vaccinations based on priorities.

Dr Rouhani also stressed that the sanctions and economic war against the Iranian nation, which was started by the previous US administration and continues in the new administration, and said, "Despite the claims that the delivery of drugs and vaccines to Iran is not prohibited, based on information obtained, there are very serious problems in the preparation and supply of foreign vaccines".

"Before these sanctions, pressure was on the economy and livelihood of the people, but today, this inhumane act has targeted the lives and health of the people," he said.

The President called the continuation of sanctions against the Iranian nation an inhumane act and added, "Access to drugs and vaccines is one of the most obvious rights that all countries have, but the Iranian nation is deprived of this natural right and deprivation of this right is a great injustice and anti-human action".

Dr Rouhani also referred to the efforts made and successes to make the COVID-19 vaccine in the country, and expressed hope that in the year 1400, the disease would be controlled in the country with the completion of the vaccination process.

"Last year, the Ministry of Health received the necessary permits to import vaccines from abroad from the government and the National Task Force, and made the necessary plans and contracts with COVAX and the producing countries, but unfortunately the obstacles that were the result of the oppressive sanctions caused the sanctions no to be fulfilled".
