Water transfer to east of the country one of all officials' wish/ Emphasis on importance of development and prosperity in the east

President described the plan to transfer water from the Persian Gulf and ​​Oman Sea to the centre and the eastern region as a huge and historic plan for the balanced development of the country and said, "This plan has been one of the wishes of all officials and we are very happy to be its executor".

Speaking on Sunday at the inauguration ceremony of 5 parts of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea water transfer project to Hormozgan, Kerman, Yazd, Isfahan, South Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi and Sistan and Baluchistan provinces, Dr Hassan Rouhani added, "In the eleventh and twelfth governments, a great revolution has occurred in the field of water and soil".

Congratulating the arrival of the month of Sha'ban, the President said, "The implementation of the huge project to transfer water from the Persian Gulf and the ​​Oman Sea to the central plateau and eastern regions of the country has other achievements in addition to providing a platform for the development of the country".

"Our country's young generation have become self-sufficient in knowledge-based companies in the construction of pumps required for these water transmission lines," he said.

Referring to the study history of this huge national project, Dr Rouhani stated, "Environmental experts were concerned that the return of wastewater of the desalination plants to the Persian Gulf would cause damage to the environment, therefore, we planned to transfer the wastewater of the plants to the Oman Sea without any environmental hazards".

The President stressed that the southern littoral countries of the Persian Gulf have been extracting water from the Persian Gulf for many years, and stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should seriously pursue the implementation of environmental considerations by other countries that have been extracting and sweetening for years".

Referring to the funding needed by the private sector for the implementation of the huge project to transfer water to the centre and east of the country from the National Development Fund, Dr Rouhani added, "The resources taken from this fund to implement these projects were provided in years 2015 and 2016 thanks to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)".
