Dr Rouhani in the 200th meeting of the Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board:

In privatisation we need strict, clear, transparent observance of law/ Institutions, legal processes of privatisation should be supported by all institutions/ A comprehensive social security system has always been insisted by the government as a basic necessity of social justice

The 200th meeting of the Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board was held on Sunday, chaired by President Dr Hassan Rouhani, in which the report on the actions taken and the challenges and opportunities for privatisation and the proposals for strengthening and optimising the process was discussed and reviewed by the members.

According to the report, despite the legal capacities and requirements related to the general policies of Article 44 announced by the Supreme Leader, the privatisation and transfer of government property and assets have faced challenges, which was discussed.

Referring to the report, the President said, "In the matter of transfer and privatisation, the principle is strict, clear and transparent observance of the law, and by removing ambiguities, the ground for different interpretations should be eliminated so that the transfer is not disturbed".

Dr Rouhani said that the main purpose of the transfer of government assets, along with the elimination of governance and ownership of surplus property, is to create a real and genuine private sector, and said, "This should be done in a way so that there is transparent competition quasi-governmental sectors cannot marginalise the private sector in this matter".

Dr Rouhani also said, "The comprehensive system of social security, as a main and fundamental necessity of achieving social justice, has always been insisted on by the government".

Emphasising the capabilities of a comprehensive and multi-layered system in aggregating all available capacities, the President stated, "A comprehensive social security system can guarantee acceptable minimum services and social and economic benefits for all sections of society".
