Speaking late on Monday in Ankara in a joint press conference with his Russian and Turkish counterparts, Dr Hassan Rouhani said, "The United States is seeking to disintegrate Syria, and this is unacceptable for any country, including the countries of the region, and especially our three countries".

"The United States' bad intensions was revealed when it gave part of Syrian territory, the Golan Heights, to an aggressor," he said.

The president described the US move as a clear example of America's bad intentions toward the Syrian people and country, and said, "In addition to these US actions, Israel's ongoing and daily interventions and bombing of innocent Syrian people and its infrastructure conflict with Syrian national sovereignty".

Dr Rouhani added, "All three leaders of the three major countries in the region believe that the fight against terrorism must continue because Idlib is still in the hands of terrorists and unfortunately in recent months the presence of terrorists, including the Nusra Front, has increased".

"How long should the Syrian people wait for terrorists to be destroyed and eliminated? Isn't 9 years enough time? For the past nine years, the Syrian people have been suffering from the terrorists who we all know where they are being sponsored from".

Dr Rouhani emphasised, "There is a need to fight terrorists, including in Idlib and to help the Syrian government, and also on the issue of the eastern Euphrates and the American-controlled area where a group of terrorists are present and ruling."

The president also emphasised the need to help returning Syrian refugees to their homes and territories, saying, "We have a lot of experience in this regard, both during the 8-year war, when some people were displaced by Saddam Hussein, and hosting Afghan refugees".

Dr Rouhani emphasised, "We must help rebuild Syria and help the dear Syrians who are in great distress".

He said, "The constitutional committee is completed and we hope this constitutional reform takes place sooner. I welcome the participation of the two governments of Iraq and Lebanon as new observers in the Astana Process, and I hope that we can host Russia and Turkey at the Sixth Summit".

Answering a question about the drone attack on Aramco and its impact on the oil market, Dr Rouhani said, "I think more about security and stability in the region than oil. This problem has its roots in the Yemeni invasion. We must ask those who invaded Yemen and are bombing it daily why they did it".

The president added, "They have destroyed Yemen and killed a large number of Yemenis, and the Yemeni people have to respond to this many acts of aggression and guns coming from the US and Europe to Saudi Arabia and the UAE".
