Speaking on Thursday in a meeting with Tabriz Oil Refinery Company managers, Dr Hassan Rouhani said, “Quality of production and saving the environment are the government’s main priorities”.

Appreciating and congratulating the oil industry of the country and Tabriz Oil Refinery Company for opening major oil and gas projects in East Azerbaijan Province, he said, “Today, Tabriz Refinery can be named a clean refinery because of the very high quality of its products”.

“Opening water and power projects with 6 trillion tomans of credit, and Tabriz Refinery with 5 trillion tomans, along with other projects, which amount to 12 trillion tomans, indicates that the country’s economy is developing fast”.

Dr Rouhani said that the Ministry of Petroleum and its affiliated companies have done great work during the current government’s term, adding, “We have achieved self-sufficiency in petrol and diesel fuel, and we are even exporting. We have also reached self-sufficiency in natural gas”.

“It would take up to a year for us to produce and export with sanctions lifted, but with the implementation the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Oil Ministry's efforts, we reached the desired figures in production and export in just a few months”.

Dr Rouhani continued, “In the fields shared with neighbouring countries, good progress has also been made, which today equals or even exceeds their oil and gas production".

On the increase in oil products’ quality, he said, “Our refineries are selling Euro 4 and Euro 5 petrol with the same price, the quality of which is very important for improving people’s health”.

Dr Rouhani emphasised that the Ministry of Petroleum has done a great job in supplying the villages with gas which will continue in the future, saying, “About 3,000 villages are getting access to the country's gas network annually, which is important in addition to environmental benefits”.
