Opening Qazvin-Rasht railway indicates peoples' indifference towards sanctions, walls/ Iran railway anti-wall, bridging peoples, nations

President described the connection of Rasht City to the nationwide railway system a very important step and a victory, adding that the railway project was carried out despite the sanctions and pressures by the United States on other countries for not cooperating with Iran.

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday at the end of his visit to Gilan Province, Dr Hassan Rouhani said, "The presence of political officials of the countries of the region and world at the opening ceremony of Qazvin-Rasht railway indicates that the peoples of the world are indifferent towards sanctions and walls".

He continued, "The Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran is anti-walls, bridging peoples and nations. Through this railway, the Persian Gulf is linked to the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, Europe and even Asia".

"The connection of Rasht to Astara is a very big promise for Gilan and the region and connection of this railway is not the only way for transportation, but the symbol of a great civilization to each other," he said.

Dr Rouhani added, "The plans of the government for Gilan Province in agriculture, tourism, culture, and industry are very promising and considerable despite sanctions".

He continued, "The water of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea belong to the entire Iranian nation, and should be used for providing water to the central plateau of Iran".

Dr Rouhani also emphasized the importance of being careful about the environment, and said, "Chai is a very important and valuable product of Gilan Province and no chai in the world can compete with Iranian chai".

Stressing that the government will continue supporting Iranian chai, he said, "We are also working for empowering and increasing silk production in Gilan Province".

President also mentioned the new plan for Anzali Wetland, saying, "Currently, many foreign universities have expressed readiness to buy the plan".
