Continuing consultation among oil-producing states essential/Terrorists' defeat undermines foreign intervention in region

President Rouhani met with the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro and stressed continuing consultation among oil-producing countries essential and said: "Efforts by OPEC and non-OPEC members, particularly Venezuela, have had positive achievements in reducing production and stability and balance of prices and these efforts are essential".

In the meeting that was held on Sunday on the margins of the OIC summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, Dr Rouhani described unity among independent countries important and referred to US attempts to sow discord and intervene in other countries' internal affairs, saying: "We have not doubt that new practices by the US administration cannot last long".

On the scourge of terrorism, he said: "Fortunately, countries combatting terrorism in the region have had invaluable achievements to the point that currently, terrorists are in bad conditions in Iraq and Syria and with the defeat of terrorists, foreign intervention will be limited".

Iran-Venezuela ties are developing, said Rouhani adding: "The formation of Joint Economic Commission of the two countries is a significant step in deepening ties and promoting cooperation".

President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela called for development of ties between Tehran and Caracas and said: "The formation of Joint Economic Commission of the two countries will prepare the ground for exploring new opportunities in deepening Iran-Venezuela relations".

"We are attempting to hold a meeting of heads of OPEC and non-OPEC member countries until the end of the current year to discuss make decisions about oil prices," said Maduro.

On American pressures on the country, he said: "The people of Venezuela, especially in the past six months, have witnessed American interventions but we well stand against these pressures by maintaining our unity".
