President: Iran determined to deepen ties with friend states in LatAm/Stressing backing private sectors' ties

President Rouhani met with the new Ambassador of Uruguay to Tehran and said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is politically determined to develop ties with friend countries in the Latin America, including Uruguay".

In the meeting that was held on Wednesday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani received the new Uruguayan ambassador's letter of credence and said: "We must take the best advantage of potentials of Tehran and Montevideo to develop ties".

He also underscored further deepening of relations between the two countries in scientific and technological fields, as well as pharmaceuticals and expressed hope that the private sectors of the two countries develop relations and cooperation to serve the two nations.

"Views and stances of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uruguay about global issues are very close to each other and the two countries believe that relations in the international stage must by based on mutual respect," the President added.

He also said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers attempts by some world powers to threat and interfere in internal affairs of other countries, especially in the Latin America, as standing against nations' will, contributing to regional tensions".

During the same meeting, the new Uruguayan ambassador to Tehran also presented his letter of credence to President Rouhani and delivered his country's president's message of congratulations over Dr Rouhani's re-election.

"Montevideo is determined to develop and deepen ties with Tehran," he said, adding: "I will do my best to cement ties and cooperation between the two countries in all fields of mutual interest".
