Speaking in a telephone call with the Prime Minister of Iraq Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi emphasised the long-standing and close relations between the two countries and pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran always stands by the Iraqi people and government, saying, "Unity and integrity in Iraq is a strategic issue and must not be compromised".
The President noted, "The enemies of the nations of the region do not like the security, stability and progress of the Iraqi people, and they are pursuing their evil goals, so everyone must be vigilant against such conspiracies".
Dr Raisi considered it necessary to use all capacities for peace and stability in Iraq and said, "We consider the principle of elections as an important achievement in the governance of the Iraqi people over their own future and we have always emphasised on determining the future of nations through the ballot box".
"In this regard, we support the resolution of any ambiguity through political processes and in a legal and transparent manner," he said.
In this phone call, appreciating Iran's unwavering support for the Iraqi people, the Prime Minister of Iraq Mustafa Al-Kadhimi said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran's view of Iraq has always been based on the establishment and maintenance of stability and security".
