Speaking on Tuesday at the meeting of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi referred to the report on the attack on smart fuel systems, while thanking the Ministry of Oil, IRIB and related agencies for proper management of conditions, saying, "It is necessary to identify weaknesses and possible faults in the recent incident in order to prevent similar incidents".
Ayatollah Raisi considered it necessary to reform and strengthen the existing structures in the field of cyberspace and emphasised, "The security of cyberspace cannot be ensured with mere advice and warning and in principle, the country's problems cannot be solved only with advice".
"Warning is part of the job, but in addition to that, we have a duty to take actions that provide relative confidence to the people and the society," he said.
The President added, "Cyberspace management is a multifaceted issue and organisational commitment in this area is essential. At the same time, the intelligence services and other institutions have a duty to prevent such incidents, and this requires serious intelligence work".
Dr Raisi said, "There should be a headquarters that can constantly monitor the situation and update and resist possible attacks and repel them. In this regard, I consider it necessary to perform various manoeuvres to identify weaknesses and protect against attacks. We also need to have alternative systems so that the devices do not face problems."
The President also stressed the need to reorganise the division of labour and improve it and use all the country's capacities to protect against possible cyberattacks.
