Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Dr Hassan Rouhani explained the measures and efforts made since the beginning of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country and the successes achieved during this period, saying, "Today in the field of equipment needed to combat this disease, we are standing on our own two feet and we have no shortage whatsoever”.

Stating that today, we can easily perform 150,000 diagnostic procedures per day, Dr Rouhani said, "These measures and efforts are to be thanked and appreciated, but some find it hard to thank and praise the government or a ministry”.

In this regard, the President referred to the Healthcare Reform Plan as one of the honourable actions of the Government of Prudence and Hope, and said that the work of the Eleventh and Twelfth Governments in the field of health has been unique in the history of the country.

“I don’t think there is any doubt about the three major developments created by this government: "JCPOA and its services, the digital revolution, and the healthcare transformation",” he said.

Dr Rouhani went on to say that today we should be more grateful for the services and actions of a great nation against the coronavirus pandemic, saying, "During this time, a great deal of work has been done in the country”.

The President said, "We all saw the situation in the supply of sanitary equipment and detergents in different countries, including industrialised and large countries, after the outbreak of the disease, but in Iran, we had no unusual situation in the production, supply and distribution of sanitary supplies and detergent even for one day”.

The President noted, "During this period, not only did we not have a shortage of beds for COVID patients, but also the hospitalisation of other patients was not disrupted or delayed in any way".

Dr Rouhani stated, "Another important step taken during the implementation of the Healthcare Transformation Plan has been the real presence of specialised medical staff in remote centres around the country, which is more important than the provision of hospital equipment".

Dr Rouhani also praised the efforts of the industrial sector during the outbreak of coronavirus, saying, "You saw what problems the power outage for just one or two days caused. It is very important that the supply of electricity, petrol and diesel is not interrupted and this government did not allow this to happen”.

The President said, "On the other hand, the role of the Supreme Leader, maraji, scholars and seminaries in the success of the implementation of health protocols was very important”.

The President mentioned transparent information in all fields as one of the great achievements of the government, saying, "Transparency is another feature of the government's performance that cannot be denied or doubted. Creating e-government, creating various systems such as business system and the like is one of the brilliant actions of the government of prudence and hope”.

Regarding vaccination, the president said, "When the first vaccines were in use in some countries, we were not sure about using them because no vaccine had fully completed its research phase. However, as soon as we made sure to buy the vaccine, of course, some problems prevented us from getting enough of the vaccine, but we did our best, both through imports and through accelerating the domestic supply”.

Dr Rouhani stated that Iran is ranked 51st in the world in the table of deaths due to coronavirus, saying, "The fact that despite the sanctions, we have achieved such a position among the developed countries shows that a great deal of work has been done in the fight against coronavirus”.
