President at the inauguration of Ministry of Energy projects:

Inaugurations on Thursdays showed that the economic war, COVID cannot stop country's development/ Breaking sanctions in its last steps

The President called the inauguration of the country's national projects on Thursdays since last year despite all the problems caused by the enemy's economic war and the outbreak of coronavirus as one of the government's honours and said, "Unfortunately, great actions that have been taken in the country over the years are not seen, and we need to hear the value of these inaugurations which have happened during the sanctions and pandemic".

Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration ceremony of the national projects of the Ministry of Energy in the provinces of Ilam, Hormozgan and Kermanshah in the 71st move of 'Prudence and Hope for Surge in Production' campaign, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to the measures taken by this government to develop the country and said, "Unfortunately, these days, in the comments, no one mentions the government's efforts for the development of the country and the villages, which have done a lot of work in the field of water, electricity, gas, roads, digital infrastructure and rural employment".

Dr Rouhani emphasised, "In the inaugurations on Thursday, which began in 2020 and today we witnessed the 71st move of it in the country, the main goal was to tell the world that neither economic war nor coronavirus can stop us from trying to develop the country".

"If it were not for this wicked man (Trump), another $14 trillion could have been spent on water and electricity over the years, and the opening of national projects in this area would have been doubled today," he said.

At the beginning of his speech today, the President paid tribute to Her Holiness Fatimah al-Masumah (AS) and congratulated her birthday and Girl's Day to all the smart, chaste, and hard-working girls of the country, saying, "What God has ordained for women and girls has been achieved in the Islamic Republic of Iran in its best way".

Stating that of course much work still needs to be done on women's rights and gender justice in Iran, Dr Rouhani said, "One of the honours of this government is that from the beginning of the government we decided that women have 30% of the country's management because we believe in women's rights".

Referring to the ongoing 19k MW power plant capacity, Dr Rouhani added, "I am proud to have implemented this project at a time when we were facing both pressures from sanctions and coronavirus".

The President said, "While until 2013 only one million villagers had access to safe and sustainable water, today this number has reached 10 million and every week 30 new villages benefit from safe and sustainable water".

In another part of his speech, Dr Rouhani stated that the emphasis of this government has always been on constructive interaction, saying, "It is true that we should build the country by trying and relying on our own internal capabilities, but we cannot live in isolation and without interaction with the world".

"In the meantime, communication with neighbours is very important. May God not forgive those who did not allow the improvement of relations between Iran and some of its neighbours with their childish, stupid acts and attacks on diplomatic centres," he said.

The President continued, "However, in this government, relations with neighbours, including Russia, have expanded properly, and today we have favourable relations with this country in various fields, and on the other hand we have close coordination and consultation with Russia and China in the Vienna talks to remove the sanctions".

Dr Rouhani emphasised, "As we broke the sanctions in 2015, we will break the sanctions again in 2021. People should know that we are in the last steps of breaking the sanctions and the United States has to lift the sanctions".
