Speaking at a meeting of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus on Saturday, Dr Hassan Rouhani said that there are still concerns about COVID-19 and the unknown coronavirus, adding, "Our dear people must continue to heed health protocols and refrain from unnecessary travels, so that we do not see another peak of the disease in the country”.

The President said that the vaccine and the drug have not yet been obtained for this disease and we have not reached the safety conditions yet, adding, "Hormozgan province had white state, but during Eid al-Fitr and due to travels, the province is in trouble right now”.

Dr Rouhani added, "No matter how advanced the country is, the beds, medical facilities and equipment and medical staff are limited, so everyone should continue to cooperate in following the health protocols".

"According to the report presented at the meeting, people cooperated more in observing health protocols last month and we saw favourable conditions, but since June, the level of care has been reduced from about 80 percent to 20 percent, which can be worrying,” said the President.

Dr Rouhani added, "The government has taken all the necessary measures to increase the number of hospital beds and medical and protective facilities and equipment for doctors and nurses, and we have good conditions in this field and we have no problems”.

The President said that in addition to such preparations, people should continue the necessary cooperation, adding, "The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade was advised to provide people with inexpensive and sufficient masks”.

Dr Rouhani emphasised on strengthening and developing e-government, adding, "Today, the meeting recommended that both the government and the people do their work without travel, and that the government provide its services as much as possible using government facilities”.

The President stated that the level of industrial production, agriculture and electronic services has shown an increase in the first two months of the year, and said, "Today, the production has increased by an average of 10 to 12 percent compared to the first two months of last year, and industrial production is also enjoying a good situation".

The President stated that non-oil exports had reduced due to coronavirus outbreak, but in the last two weeks, many gates have been opened with neighbouring countries and the conditions of the central bank and the country's currency have improved.

Dr Rouhani continued stating that today we are witnessing better governance in the country through unity and cohesion, adding, "Today, the entire system and the armed forces are cooperating with each other”.

"If we can make this year a year of bonding and victory, and be more united than ever before, it is a great achievement that could turn the threats and problems that this disease has created into opportunity," the president said.

Dr Rouhani stated, "Today, we are witnessing a national coalition for health and living, and in fact ‘National Coalition for Life’, and this is a great achievement that we should not lose".

"The experience of the last few months shows that if we work together on issues such as coronavirus and sanctions, we will win, and we must turn the rule that we followed in recent months into a national coalition for life, livelihood, health and progress," he said.

Dr Rouhani went on to say that coronavirus is more dangerous for the elderly and those with underlying conditions, adding, "We need to be sensitive towards these two groups, and in areas where the disease is entering a peak, the elderly and those with underlying conditions must be notified first”.

Referring to the reopening of holy places and the need to observe health protocols in these places, the President said, "According to a report given in today's meeting, the situation of observing health protocols in some holy places, including the shrine of His Holiness Abdul Adhim Hassani (AS), as well as in Qom and Jamkaran, has been excellent, but some places such as Imam Reza’s (AS) shrine are not in good condition and the reports presented in this regard are not promising”.

Dr Rouhani stated that the reopening are conditional on everyone's cooperation, otherwise we will have to re-impose restrictions if people's health is endangered.

Referring to the new resolutions of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus, the President said, "In today's meeting, it was approved that people who have been affected by coronavirus in the last 3 months and also those businesses that do not have insurance and have problems because of coronavirus, be helped".

Dr Rouhani added, "In this meeting, it was also approved that specialised exhibitions be allowed to operate, provided that certain people are invited to visit them”.

The President also referred to the request of some provinces that are in the red situation to re-impose restrictions, and said, "In this regard, it was determined that the framework, time and manner of these authorities be given to the provinces that are in the red, until they get out of the peak of the disease, which will be discussed in next meeting”.
