Speaking in a phone call with Minister of Health Dr Saeed Namaki on Friday, President Hassan Rouhani said, "The noble people of Iran have cooperated and observed health protocols strictly and helped the authorities manage the disease, and the Laylat al-Qadr ceremony is the manifestation of this cooperation".

Stating that the extent of pious people and the believers' cooperation increased hopes for controlling the disease, he said, "The dear, pious people of Iran consider observing health protocols imperative alongside their religious practices, and we need to thank their cooperation, as well as the efforts of the ceremony organisers for observing health protocols and eliminating concerns about the further outbreak of the disease".

Stressing that we need to thank the respectful clergy and caretakers of holy places, the President continued, "This wise, accurate and responsible behaviour of the people gives the authorities hope for reopening holy shrines and mausoleums when the holy cities' status becomes white".

He referred to discords within some developed countries whether the restrictions should continue or not, saying, "It is a source of pride for us that Iran has been able to not only reopen some businesses, but also activate its religious places during these nights with unity among authorities".
