Speaking on Tuesday at the session of Executive Council of Information Technology, President Hassan Rouhani said, "We issued smart ID cards, but people still have to take several copies of their documents with them to some offices”.

He also tasked the Secretariat of the Executive Council of Information Technology with presenting weekly reports on the process of accelerating the implementation of e-government and coordinating the related ministries.

“We must solve the problems on the path of e-government within 6 or 7 months so that next year, we can announce that we have solved these problems,” he said.

The President continued, "E-government is an important step for serving people and fighting corruption, and it is a symbol of modernisation of our Islamic government”.

He also went on to state, "What we expect from e-government is that everything can be done with a single card”.

“For example, in the health sector, this e-government was worked on a lot and the electronic health record was expected to be activated,” he said.

Dr Rouhani also added, "The ultimate goal is to solve all these problems within 6 months so that people can have access to the needed information without having to face and talk with someone”.
