Iran, Turkey agree to boost trade exchanges to dlrs 30b

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Turkish counterpart President Abdullah Gul here on Monday agreed to increase Tehran-Ankara bilateral trade exchanges to dlrs 30 billion a year from the current amount of dlrs 10 billion.

The two Presidents made the announcement during their joint press conference. <br /><br />
<br /><br />
Referring to the growing relations between the two nations, President Ahmadinejad termed Iran-Turkey relations as profound, durable and brotherly. <br /><br />
<br /><br />
“We are determined to immediately reach the value of our annual trade ties with Turkey to 30 billion dollars through the expansion of all-out cooperation,” said the president.<br /><br />
<br /><br />
He added that the value of Iran's trade ties with Turkey surpassed 10 billion dollars last year and noted that the two countries have the capabilities to upgrade their trade to $30 billion. <br /><br />
<br /><br />
President Ahmadinejad emphasized that a joint venture between Tehran and Ankara in various fields of electricity and energy would be added to the figure. <br /><br />
<br /><br />
“Iran and Turkey enjoy deep, brotherly and enduring relations,” president said, adding the two countries have been bolstering ties in different fields during recent years. <br /><br />
