President in a meeting with members of Majlis' Committee on Planning and Budget:
Gov't main aim to keep social peace, economic stability/Widening political, social divisions detrimental/Organs act within their own framework of responsibilities
The members of Parliament's Committee on Planning and Budget met with President Rouhani on Tuesday.
At the meeting, the members of the committee discussed and shared their opinions about important planning and economic issues of the country.
They also thanked the government for its efforts in foreign policy and advancing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as well as government's efforts in different fields such as debts to banks, combatting economic corruption.
Dr Rouhani said: "Establishing social peace and economic stability are government's main goals. Creating unrest and widening political and social divisions are detrimental to the country".
"To spread vitality and effort in the society, people need to see peace and stability in economic and politics and the government has done all it could to restore peace to the economy," he added.
The President also said: "Transparency of information is prerequisite to people's participation in economic and political activities. If people see that they are being informed unambiguously about what concerns their rights, they will support the system and the country with more trust and assurance".
"If there has been betrayal to treasury, people's questions should be answered. With regard to Babak Zanjani's case, whose debt has topped $3.5bn, its people's rights to know how this huge amount of money has been given to somebody and where the money is," the President added.
Dr Rouhani also continued: "Increasing public trust and social asset in the country requires all branches and institutions' cooperation. Every organ should act within their own framework of responsibilities and be accountable to public opinion".
"In this regard, the Judiciary has a great responsibility and should be held accountable," the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran continued saying.
