President hails police in fighting drugs

President Rouhani hailed the Forces’ sacrifices in borders fighting drug cartels and contribution as well as other military forces in borders. He highlighted the social vulnerability which should be targeted effectively through joint cooperation and attempts of all government bodies.

Speaking at a session of Iran's Anti-Narcotics Headquarters in Tehran on Sunday, President Rouhani lauded the country's law enforcement and popular forces for their dedication to the fight against narcotics, saying such efforts have well blocked the transit of drugs to the West, most notably to Europe, through Iran.
He added "they (Europeans) and other countries should realize that the problem of narcotics is not Iran's alone, and they need to shoulder responsibility in this regard."
President Rouhani told the meeting that the drug addicts had been trapped in a network of causes, with drugs as major cast; he urged participation of NGOs in prevention sector.
“A critical point here is the understanding of the young generation of the risks and hazards of the drugs; all conditions should be provided for the youth to safely input their energies in healthy recreations and avoid drugs,” Dr.Rouhani told the meeting.
