Tehtan,Ashgabat trade to hit $60bn in 10 years

During a joint meeting between the two countries’ senior delegations in Ashgabat on Wednesday,The Iranian and Turkmen presidents say they are determined to increase the volume of mutual economic transactions to USD60 billion within the next 10 years.

Noting that the agreements signed today would further develop relations between the two countries which would also benefit the whole region, President Rouhani maintained that Iran and Turkmenistan are two important countries in energy production and must boost their cooperation in this arena.
President expressed Iran’s readiness to forge closer cooperation with its northern neighbor in energy transit, adding the Islamic Republic is willing to keep natural gas imports from Turkmenistan.
Dr.Rouhani noted the country intended to continue its gas imports from Turkmenistan, and increase cooperation in the fields of electricity purchase, technical services, environment, combating drugs and providing water supplies.
Dr.Rouhani thanked Turkmenistan for supporting Tehran’s nuclear program and said the two countries share common ground on regional and international issues.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, for his part, refereed to the operation of Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, stressing his country was also eager to expand relations with Iran in fields of culture, science and technology, agriculture.
He further thanked Iran’s backing for his country on the international scene.
