"The spirit of self-sacrifice and devotion marks the distinctive features of the great Iranian nation. I'm sure that the Iranian nation would extensively and actively participate in the blood donation campaign as a humanitarian duty," said Ahmadinejad after donating blood on the eve of Blood Transfusion Day and on the sidelines of Sunday's cabinet session.



He said Iran, with a large population, needs public donation of blood to meet the growing demand of the needy for blood on rare occasions.
