According to the Presidential Press and Information Office, President Ahmadinejad appreciated Sultan Qaboos in a message for the sympathy he had offered to the people and government of Iran over the demise of Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani, who passed away on June 16 due to illness at the age of 76.

The late cleric was a prominent religious Shia leader who had penned more than 30 scientific and religious articles.

In his message, President Ahmadinejad wished for further progress and prosperity of the Muslim nation and government of Oman.
