President appreciates filmmakers boycotting Denmark film festival
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday appreciated Iranian filmmakers who refused to participate in Denmark film festival in protest at the blasphemous caricature published by a Danish newspaper against Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) last year.
The boycott of the Denmark film festival by four Iranian filmmakers including Ahmad Miralaei and Mohammad Shirvani in protest at the blasphemous act by the Danish newspaper was given wide coverage in the Western media.
President Ahmadinejad said that refusal of the Iranian filmmakers to attend the Denmark film festival indicated their commitment to the religious principles and of course they would be rewarded by the holy Prophet (PBUH) in the hereafter.
He hoped that blessings of such actions will be revealed in the Iranian film industry.
