At a meeting with Jalal Talebani, President Ahmadinejad stated that Tehran and Baghdad have close historical and cultural relations .Iran and Iraq nations are in the same front and through their similar view points are moving toward the development of bilateral regional cooperation.



President Ahmadinejad asserted that Iran supports Iraq's independence, territorial solidarity and stable security . Foreign forces at the region are the main source of insecurity and if they leave the region the nations are able to establish permanent security and stability in their countries.



Jalal Talibani also stated that the speech made by president Ahmadinejad at the general assembly did have valuable and influential points. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has an outstanding position in regional and international affairs and Iraq looks forward to deepen and strengthen its bilateral ties with Iran.



He remarked that Iran and Iraq are able to make influential steps for the sake of peace and stable security.
