President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Wednesday that Iran's presence in the upcoming Summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be determining.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters prior to his departure for Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where the SCO summit is to be held from August 27-28.



He added that the consultations among the leaders of the participating countries on the sidelines of the summit will be crucial.



Ahmadinejad said that the latest regional and international developments will be reviewed during his meetings with counterparts participating in the summit.



He expressed hope that the summit will be fruitful and the consultations would benefit the member states, the region and the international community.



He referred to the Shanghai Treaty as a major regional treaty which will find its position across the globe.



The Iranian president further announced that Iran-Tajikistan- Afghanistan trilateral meeting will also be held on the sidelines of the summit.



President Ahmadinejad will take part in the summit at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart Imomali Rakhmon.



Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Energy Minister Parviz Fattah, and senior presidential advisor, Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi are accompanying the Iranian president to Dushanbe.



China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are the SCO permanent members, while Iran, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan have observer status.



President Ahmadinejad is to address the summit.
