Speaking at the session of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution on Tuesday evening, after receiving a report by the Minister of Education on the process of implementing the goals of the curriculum and the fundamental transformation in education, Dr Rouhani said, "There is no doubt that with the implementation of this document, the gap of such a document will be compensated”.

The President said, "The most important step the Ministry of Education should take after approving the document is to design appropriate educational texts and train teachers according to the educational goals set out in the document and then to determine the teaching methods so that the goals contained therein can be met”.

Dr Rouhani noted, "We must keep in mind that the educational goals set out in this document, by applying new teaching and learning methods, will foster the talents of the country's students, and by employing specialist teachers in various disciplines to teach specialised courses, and the students’ participation in the process of learning different sciences is imperative”.

The president said, "Based on new teaching methods, there should be fields of choice based on students' interest and talent so that students can choose their favourite academic discipline”.

Dr Rouhani said, "In the new teaching method, it should be borne in mind that students should learn both science and research, and they should learn skills as well”.

The President expressed hope that education, along with taking this important step, would also take immediate steps to make its goals operational.

At today's meeting of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, it was decided to set a timetable for fulfilling all goals of the document.

After being briefed by the biotechnology headquarters, it was decided that Iran's share of the global market for technology should reach 3 percent by the year 1404, and in three five-year programs, the value added of the biotech industry should rise to 10 percent of the country’s GDP.
