Dr Hassan Rouhani wrote a response to a middle-aged man living in the village of Bent in Sistan and Baluchistan, which was published in Hamshahri Newspaper.

President Hassan Rouhani’s message is as follows:

My dear Baluch countryman

Hello

I heard your gentle complaint. The day I wore the cloak of responsibility, I had the dream of a prosperous and proud Iran, and I have been trying to achieve that dream for the past six years. Iran is undoubtedly the rainbow of all ethnicities and citizens and will not achieve balanced, non-discriminatory development except through comprehensive development.

I am aware of your problems - from the poor state of roads and drinking water to poverty and deprivation - and I truly respect your patience and suffering. There are many plans and programmes for the development of Sistan and Baluchistan province, but I am sorry and embarrassed that we have not been able to wipe off the dust of deprivation from the beautiful face of this province for many years.

I stand by you, not only to overcome the flood crisis, but inshallah until all problems are resolved and the land is fully prosperous. Dear fellow Iranian, I am the President of all the people of Iran, and I love every one of you from the southernmost point to the northernmost point of my dear Iran.

Hassan Rouhani

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
