In a cabinet meeting chaired by President Rouhani;

ARAO, industry ministry reports discussed/Cabinet calls on Majlis to prioritise looking into bill on dealing with natural disasters

At the meeting of the Council of Ministers that was held on Sunday chaired by President Hassan Rouhani, the cabinet discussed reports by Administrative and Recruitment Affairs Organisation of Iran (ARAO) on Iran’s place compared to other countries.

Based on the report, Iran’s place in international indices regarding social affairs, infrastructure, environment, economy, science, technology and education, health, government and social affairs shows that in 2017, the percentage of enrolment in higher education in Iran is higher than regional and global average.

The report also indicates that the quality of primary education is higher than regional and global average, and due to the government’s support of high-tech products Iran’s place is higher than global average.

In the field of health and triple vaccination of babies, Iran’s index is higher than regional and global average.

In other areas such as economy, power supply, air transportation, railways, human development and access to freshwater, Iran enjoys a high place higher than regional and global average.

The report by Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade was regarding indices and activities of the ministry in the first two months of the current Iranian year.

Based on the report, loans paid to banks and credit institutes in the first two months of the current year has increased 13 per cent compared to last year, reaching over 21 trillion tomans.

Within the same time span, non-oil exports were increased to 18.8 million tons worth 7.7 billion dollars, which shows a 4.8-percent growth in weight and 21.9 percent growth in value on dollars.

Regarding mining, 153 exploration permits, 61 exploration certificates, and 77 operation permits have been issued, which shows an 8.5-percent growth.

The Council of Ministers also called on the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) to put discussing the bill on dealing with natural disasters on the priority agenda.
