President in a press conference at the end of trip to Sistan and Baluchistan:

24 projects worth $253m to be operated in Sistan and Baluchistan/We hope Majlis approves Sistan Free Zone bill/Supplying gas to Zabol underway

President Rouhani said that to accelerate development and prosperity in Sistan and Baluchistan province, a total of 24 plans and projects, worth over $253 million and these projects will be put into operation until 1398.

Speaking in a press conference at the end of trip to Sistan and Baluchistan on Sunday, Dr Hassan Rouhani said: "Regarding announcing Sistan Free Zone, the government has done its part and we hope that the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) approves its bill".

He continued: "Supplying natural gas to Zabol is underway and we hope that next winter the people of this city can use gas".

Referring to the inauguration of Phase 1 of Chabahar's Shahid Beheshti Port, Dr Rouhani said: "Inauguration of this port is very important for the economy of the province, the country, the region and even the world".

"We are very happy that its capacity has increased from 2.5 to 8.5 billion tonnes and, without a doubt, this is a very good day for the country and the people of this province," he continued.

 The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said: "Without a doubt, to take the best advantage of the potentials of Chabahar Port, other plans and projects related to it must be put into operation. Therefore, we need roads and railroads and we will do our utmost in this regard".

Stressing that railway is one of the most important projects in the list of priorities of the government, he said: "We will continue our efforts in this regard to operationalise all these projects as soon as possible".

Answering a question about reopening of border markets in the province, President Rouhani said: "A report has been prepared in this regard and we will work on creating 5 new markets in this province".

"Today, the province and the borders of this region enjoy full security and we have good relations with Afghanistan and Pakistan, therefore, the main infrastructure for trade is provided," he added.

Dr Rouhani also answered a question about reinforcing rural houses, saying: "In our next budget, there are plans for reinforcing old houses and we will continue this plan in villages and cities".

On the threat of Somalian pirates for the fishermen of the province, Rouhani said: "In this case, we are not dealing with a foreign government, but rather with terrorist groups that are mainly active in Somalia and our navy is active in this region".
